Wed, March 2, 2005 - 3:12 PMMy Hungarian friend tells me those a relatively common phrases.
I shudder to think...
on the other hand, it explains why they get invaded so often. -

Re: well, isn't this... handy
Sat, March 12, 2005 - 10:58 PMNo wonder Hungarian is so freakin' hard language to learn. I would take me years just to learn how to properly cuss. -

Re: well, isn't this... handy
Sun, March 13, 2005 - 12:05 PMWell, it's not impossible. I used to be able to say "go to the cunt" quite easily, which made my room-mate gasp, turn pale, and lecture me on what I should NOT be saying in Hungarian.
Asshead and horse's prick also came quite readily, in the proper company, I mean.
tsk tsk tsk. -

Re: well, isn't this... handy
Wed, November 9, 2005 - 11:29 AMI was trying to recite a story about someone farting recently but luckily 'szellent' came to the rescue rather than 'fingott ki.'
'Fingom sincs' I think means something along the lines of 'I don't care.' At least I think it does.
I am not new to Budapest but I am new here....
sziasztok

Thu, November 10, 2005 - 3:50 PMSzia Lynda,
Fingom sincs actually means 'I have no clue', and if you want to make it
sound even more intriguing you can also say 'Halva'ny lila fingom sincs'.

Re: well, isn't this... handy
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 12:27 PMHmmm.....I still have the tiniest impression that if I were to use the expression 'fingom sincs' next time someone asks me where I put some important paper in some office somewhere, I might just discern the faintest whiff of disapproval. I guess farting comes in all shades and hues, from the most delicate hint of one to the most full-bodied so to speak.

Re: well, isn't this... handy
Sat, December 31, 2005 - 1:21 PMMy grandfather who was a sergeant major in the Austro Hungarian army stationed in Vienna used to tell me that in order to become a sergeant in the Kaiserliche und Koenigliche Army you had to be able to cuss without repeating yourself for 2 minutes. To get to grandfather's rank you had to do the same for 4 minutes. The secret was involving sex acts involving animals and all the family members...

Re: well, isn't this... handy
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 11:55 PMwhat I liked the most was : may it be consumed by the fene, and before it it explained what the fene is. :))))))
This is list doesn't really include the milder expressions, which are also funny, and thre's quite a few of them.
"Halvány lila gőzöm sincs" and " fingom sincs" kind of mean the same thing, but first one is not nasty for example my mom would use it, but the second one is not so nice, and because if it, it doesn't only mean that you have no idea, but also implies thatyzou really don't care.
